How To Run A Killer Black Friday Promo

Black Friday Cyber Monday sales have become an American eCommerce tradition, beginning 2005. Last year, eCommerce stores processed over $700 billion in sales just during this 4 day sale event.

Australia played its part too. Here, Black Friday hasn’t historically been a ‘thing’, but Aussie retailers are catching on fast. Last year, it grew by over 50% and it now represents the start of the busy Christmas sales period.

Typically, eCommerce sales can increase by over 30% just on Black Friday alone. And with the right strategy, this event can lead into a bumper Christmas promotional period!

My vote is definitely to run a Black Friday promotion, and use it to kick start your Christmas sales promotions.

Now, with that said, this year’s Black Friday Cyber Monday (BFCM) promotional event will be unlike any other.

Fears around COVID-19 and subsequent retail store closures have shifted consumer spending online and away from brick-and-mortar. My opinion is that this new consumer behaviour is pretty well entrenched now, so it’s a shift I believe will continue well into the holiday season and beyond.

As more shoppers rush online to make their BFCM purchases, inventory and shipping constraints will present challenges for retailers of all sizes, but especially for small business.

With all this in mind, if you want to make the most of this year’s biggest shopping event, it’s critical that you start planning as early as possible. Despite the different climate we’re now operating in, BFCM is still a tremendous opportunity for your business to end the year strong, whatever that looks like for you.

With an unsettled economic climate, supply chain shortages, and shifting consumer behaviour, navigating Black Friday Cyber Monday may feel particularly stressful this year.

Here’s my recommended checklist for generating the best sales results possible for your online store this Black Friday

Automate, Systemise & Outsource: Building A Hands-Off Ecommerce Store

With Chelsea Papadopoulos, Tiptoe & Co

Automate, Systemise & Outsource: Building A Hands-Off Ecommerce Store

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been working with clients on their marketing planning to see out the rest of 2020 and then into 2021.

And when it comes to planning, I like to start with a ‘vivid vision’ exercise: What would you like to achieve in your business in 3-5 years time?

It’s a useful exercise to repeat every year too. It’s easy to get bogged down into our day-to-day work, trying to get stuff done and tick things off our to-do list.

And I guess we always have a vague idea in our mind of where we’re heading, so our head immediately turns to strategy and that never-ending to-do list…

But not being super clear on your vision means you could accidentally grow your business into something you don’t really like or want.

The fact is – not everyone wants global domination or a billion dollar business.

Some people would really love to have a profitable, flexible lifestyle business.

A business that fits in around their family, or that doesn’t lock them into a corporate job they don’t love.

Some people want to have a side hustle that generates extra income for the family.

And others want a business that gives them the location-freedom to travel.

If that’s you, then tune in to this episode where I’m joined by my guest Chelsea Papdopoulos from shoe boutique Tiptoe and Co.

Listen as Chelsea shares her business journey, from start-up to now running her profitable, flexible, lifestyle business.

Stop Leaving $$ On The Table – How To Automate Your Ecommerce Biz!

How To Automate Your Ecommerce Biz

As this episode airs, we’re getting close to the ‘Business’ end of the year. Quarter 4 is just around the corner, and in terms of eCommerce retail, this is typically THE biggest sales season!

Now – 2020 hasn’t exactly been a normal year. It’s challenged all of us in ways we could never have imagined and I reckon many of us probably never thought we could cope with.

Yet at the same time, it’s also presented this insane growth opportunity for eCommerce stores. Online retail is absolutely booming, with online sales growing at hyper-speed!

Which begs the question – what could 2021 possibly be like?

My opinion is that, by and large, consumer behaviour has changed. Consumers are now trained to shop online in volumes they never did before, and I think much of that behaviour will continue.

That thought is equal parts exciting and scary though, right?

I know I’ve seen many online store owners scrambling to keep up right now, so the thought that things will only get busier can make you think ‘ARGH how will I cope? I’m too busy to handle what I’m doing now!’

And then I see many other online store owners, start-ups and small businesses, not quite experiencing that big influx of sales growth yet…

So how do you win customers and influence sales – on autopilot?

Listen as I share the biggest mistakes eCommerce retailers make ALL the time that significantly impact their sales.

And then, I detail the 3 essential components of a successful eCommerce business AND how you can automate your website traffic and sales!

Listen now.

How To Scale A Lucrative Handmade Candle Brand

With Jodi Swift from Swik Home Body

How To Scale A Lucrative Handmade Candle Brand

I admire people who take the plunge to turn their creativity into a business. To back themselves and start making their products for others to buy, not just for themselves.

Today on the podcast I’m joined by Jodi, owner of Swik Home Body.

Like many of you, her business started as a side hustle.

First, she was making candles for herself. And when her family and friends saw them, they loved them and wanted to buy them.

So Jodi grabbed that opportunity and ran with it! First starting out at markets, then graduating to pop-up Shops within major shopping centres.

Despite the shops being incredibly lucrative, they were HARD WORK! Physically, the time and effort involved in setting up and running these shops began to take their toll, so Jodi wanted to find a way to scale her business up using an eCommerce model.

Listen to the podcast as she shares her incredible journey over the past 12 months.

She’s grown from a small-time brand into one that is incredibly lucrative, both online and in-store.

Yet, so often I see online stores making these 10 common eCommerce mistakes. And it’s costing them $$ in lost revenue!
